About the Event

Supported by the Western New York Comprehensive Care Center,  Film viewing (Going Sane) and panel discussion regarding eating disorders and co-occurring illnesses (e.g., anxiety, depression and substance abuse). Panelists will include: Ann Griepp MD, Jeff Levenkron PhD, Anca Seger MD, Mike Scharf MD, and Dayton Walsh PhD. There will be time for Questions and Answers with the audience following the panel. Opening with one family’s desperate search for eating disorder treatment for their daughter, the film goes on to follow several families in search of mental health treatment for their loved ones. Leading experts describe the challenges and barriers families encounter as they seek out evidence-based treatments and practitioners who will support family-centered care. The family members and experts reveal how this experience can sometimes end with tragic outcomes and call upon providers to utilize evidence-based, family-centered treatments and insurers to pay for them.
